Bursary

Bursary Opportunity for young musicians

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors – Acorn Instruments – we are now able to offer a limited number of bursaries to encourage young people to attend Melodeons in Wensleydale and thus help to safeguard the future of melodeon playing in British folk music. These bursaries will amount to £60 per person, meaning that the cost of the course to successful applicants will be £25 rather than £85.

Bursaries are being offered to encourage young musicians to develop their skills and are open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 25 who meets the basic requirements for the course of being able to play a few tunes and having a basic knowledge of where the notes are on their melodeon. Applications from young people under the age of 16 will also be considered if the applicant is accompanied to Hawes by an adult. It will not be necessary for the adult to remain with the young person whilst they are in the workshops, but to be responsible for them at all other times.

Note that the bursary is limited to one per person (so not for more than one year) and also only 3 are available each year.

If you would like to apply for a bursary, please e-mail info@MelodeonsinWensleydale.org.uk giving proof of age and brief details of your playing experience and what you hope to gain from the course.
